Cold plasma
Decontamination with Non-Thermal Plasma (NTP), also known as cold plasma. The technology responds to an unattended need to decontaminate chemical & biological warfare agents which cannot be treated with standard liquid-based decontamination solutions, such as sensitive material.
The decontamination of sensitive material (e.g. electronic devices, CBRN protection equipment, medical stuff, personal equipment, Unmanned Autonomous Systems (UAS), or military equipment), requires system without the use of liquid sources and chemical agents.
This NTP solution creates a plasma discharge between two electrodes separated by an insulating dielectric barrier. This controlled cold plasma produces Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) for contaminant removal.
There are several cold plasma prototypes to be considered:
a: Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Chamber (APPC)- NTP lab device with 12 l of chamber capacity. TRL 6
b: APPC – NTP prototype with at least 1m3 of chamber capacity. TRL 8
c: NTP device without chamber for confined spaces like vehicles cabinets. TRL 5
